Learn all about Boreal Chorus Frogs and Wood Frogs
Learn about how to identify both species, explore their lifecycles, predators and prey! Look at posters and toy models.
Grab a species of frog, predators or prey and learn about the interaction of food for these species. Predators catch frogs and frogs catch insects!
Following the program and the activity children be provided a frog themed activity booklet to be completed during the program as well as taken home to complete! Stickers will also be available!
Learn to Identify aquatic invertebrates and explore the complex world below the surface!
Look at a collection of species collected from lakes, ponds and rivers! learn what makes them different and unique, as well as how they are grouped into families.
Join our program head to spend time wading into the water (shallow depth) to catch and sort species we catch. As well as try to identify them using an ID chart. After we study the species we will release them back to the water! Everyone will get to try to catch and ID species during the activity!
Following the program and the activity children and families will each be provided a scavenger hunt sheet to be completed around the campground as well a coloring sheet and small pack of crayons! Stickers will also be available!
Learn to identify by sight and sound, birds commonly found in Alberta
Learn to identify birds by listening to the calls of birds around the campground and by using the Audubon app. Review posters and images of birds that can be easily spotted by there vibrant colors and unique sounds.
Join our program lead on a nature walk around the campground and try to identify the birds that you hear and see along the way. Also participate in a bird nest building activity or learn about bird beaks and their uses, by using every day items!
Following the program and the activity children and families will each be provided a scavenger hunt sheet as well as a bird bingo sheet to be completed around the campground as well a coloring sheet and small pack of crayons! Stickers will also be available!
Learn to identify and track carnivores in Alberta
Learn to Identify carnivores such like the Gray Wolf, Cougar, Bears etc. By viewing and feeling pelts, looking at tracks, skulls, teeth etc. Learn interesting facts and discover the world of carnivores in Alberta.
Join our program lead to track some carnivores around the campground. Test your tracking skills to find the hidden carnivore!
